Artist of the Month: Patricia D. Kick |

Throughout April and May 2008, the artwork of Patricia D. Kick will be on display at KFS, 70 Main Street in downtown Waterville. Her framed needlepoints may be viewed by the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Patricia Kick is keeping the age old art of needlepoint alive. Needlepoint is hand stitchery applied to a fabric background with a threaded needle. The subjects of her brilliantly colored works are primarily 18th and 19th century masterpieces by French Impressionists such as Monet and Renoir. Patricia has created 33 larger sized works over a period of thirteen years, with some of them taking a year to complete and a conservative estimate of one thousand hours per piece.
KFS, working with the Waterville Area Art Society, has been hosting "Artist of the Month" displays since 2003. Numerous artists and a multitude of art forms and mediums have been displayed, providing an opportunity for the community to enjoy fantastic pieces of art. |

KFS is pleased to offer a $500 scholarship for the pursuit of a 2 or 4 year degree in business, finance, or economics at a college located in New England. Candidates for the scholarship must be high school seniors attending Lawrence High School, Messalonskee High School, Waterville High School, or Winslow High School. One student from each school will be awarded a scholarship.
Candidates must have 3.0 GPA or higher in high school and must be accepted into a 2 or 4 year business, finance, or economics degree program. Selected candidates must attain a 2.5 GPA or better during their first semester of college. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college upon receipt of the first semester transcript.
